Mandy Lemons, winner of the 2015 Emissaries of Memphis Music Peoples Choice Award, and Sturgis Nikides (who recorded and toured with legendary Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer John Cale of The Velvet Underground) - also known as Low Society - are blazing new trails on the stomping grounds of Blues Roots and Americana music. Texas Blues, Memphis Rock 'N Soul and a healthy dose of New York attitude help define the sound and spirit of our music. Our recordings have received critical acclaim world-wide, including numerous Best Of lists. We have placed on the Roots Music Report Top 50 Blues & Top 50 Blues-Rock Album Charts as well as the prestigious Living Blues Magazine Top 25 Radio Chart. Sirius XM B.B. Kings Bluesville has had our music in rotation since the beginning of 2015 with our second album 'You Can't Keep A Good Woman Down', and now continuing with our third release, which we recorded in Belgium and Memphis in 2017, 'Sanctified'.
Low Society has been on the road in the US & Europe since 2011 - we went to Europe an amazing 3 times last year alone! We've appeared at Clarksdale Mississippi's Juke Joint Festival 5 times, NYC's Howl Festival 3 times, Memphis's inaugural Bona Fide Blues Festival, Virginia's Winchester Blues House Festival, the 2012 BluesAlive Festival in the Czech Republic & Poland, Switzerlands prestigious 2015 Lucerne Blues Festival, Blues Club Leutzbeurg's 20th Anniversary Concert in Luxembourg in Nov 2017, the Rebel Rebel Film Festival in Paris in Feb 2018, Little Rock Riverfest on Memorial Day weekend, the Western Maryland Blues Festival in June, the Luxembourg Blues 'N Jazz Rallye in July, and closed 2018 with the Blues Aan Zee Festival in the Netherlands in November. 2019 is already shaping up beautifully with festival bookings in the USA, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg this summer as well as producing and recording our upcoming 4th album!
Our third album SANCTIFIED (2017) is a trans-Atlantic production with Belgians Jacky Verstraeten on bass and Bart De Bruecker on drums (http://www.rawblues.be/), as well as Memphis legend Rick Steff back on the keys. The rhythm tracks were recorded at Closed Session Recording Studio in Roeselare, Belgium, and all additional recording and tracks were completed at American Recording Studio in Memphis, TN, with engineer Will Danger. Sanctified was released on May 1, 2017 and has been in the rotation on XM Bluesville ever since. The album has been on the Roots Music Report Top 50 Blues & Blues-Rock Albums chart and has received phenomenal press, worldwide! Catch us on the road - we look forward to playing for you!
“If you ask today how to bring the blues to the future: this is clearly the way. "Sanctified" is one of the albums you must hear in 2017. And Low Society are, for me, one of the most recommendable bands in the arena of blues-rock.”
